In a spirit of unwavering dedication and love, Let Love Lead Big Dawood marked its first-year anniversary with a weeklong celebration that left an indelible mark on communities across Accra. The jubilant festivities culminated in a heartfelt dinner on October 7 at the prestigious AH Hotel in Ajdringanor, East Legon. This significant day not only marked the NGO’s first year of heartfelt service but also coincided with the birthday of its visionary founder, Big Dawood.
The anniversary celebrations kicked off in late September with a grand press launch at Palace Mall, where the media and the public were briefed about the impactful activities planned for the week. The momentum built up as October arrived, bringing a cascade of charitable efforts that touched lives far and wide.
On October 2, the initiative began with the distribution of sanitary pads to the Kayaye, reaching markets and lorry stations in Accra, Tema Station, Makola, Agbogbloshie, Kaneshie, Malata, and Ashaiman. This vital initiative, supported by Sunda International Limited, producers of Softcare, aimed to address the pressing issue of accessibility to menstrual hygiene products among vulnerable women.
Following this, Let Love Lead Big Dawood extended its generosity to needy communities by donating clothes, sponsored by The Outlet, reaching places like Kasoa Tuba, Mantse Agbona, and the streets of Accra. The dedication of the organization shone brightly as they ventured as far as the Faana Community, risking their safety to deliver much-needed clothing to its residents.
On October 5, the organization continued its compassionate efforts by feeding 5,000 people living on the streets. The outreach covered key areas such as Accra Mall, Dzorwulu Traffic Light, Konka, Mamobi Nima, Circle, and Kaneshie Abossey Okai, providing sustenance and hope to those in need.
As part of their commitment to women’s health, Let Love Lead, Big Dawood collaborated with Peoples Medical Centre to offer free breast cancer screenings at the Nungua Transport Terminal on October 6. This initiative underscored the organization’s focus on holistic well-being.
The culmination of this weeklong celebration was the grand dinner on October 7, held at AH Hotel. Notable personalities, including Ghanaian business and entrepreneurial mogul, Nana Kwame Bediako, Joshua of Keche Global, and Coded of 4×4 fame, graced the event. Big Dawood, in his inspiring speech, emphasized the importance of infusing love into every action, making the world a better place for all.
This momentous occasion also served as a platform to unveil Let Love Lead Big Dawood’s next ambitious project: the construction of a school for Suhum Otwe No: 2 (Kokobibiam) in the Eastern Region. This initiative embodies the organization’s enduring commitment to education and empowerment.
In a gesture of gratitude, Let Love Lead Big Dawood expressed heartfelt thanks to all the partners and sponsors who contributed to the success of the anniversary celebrations. Citations were awarded to these benevolent souls, acknowledging their pivotal role in making the world a warmer, more compassionate place for everyone. The anniversary celebration stands not just as a testament to a year of service but as a beacon of hope for the future, reminding us all that love, when translated into action, has the power to transform lives and communities.
